t's practically impossible to go on vacation
to Madrid without taking part on the night
life of the Spanish capital: the options
for entertainment are virtually infinite
and are well-suited to please the needs
of everyone.
To get an idea of what
there is to do in Madrid at night it suffices
to take a look at the "Guia del Ocio," a
weekly publication dedicated to the current
events of the city.

Among the most requested shows
there is the suggestive Flamenco
that, along with the Sevillana,
was originated in Andalusia . Among
the many night clubs, there are
some that dedicate themselves entirely
to this art.
The quietest way to spend the night
is to go to the movies (there are
at least a hundred movie theatres
in Madrid !). A remarkable resource
of movies is the Cinemateca Nacional
de la Calle Santa Isabel that features
cycles of international movies shown
in their language of origin with
Spanish subtitles.

Those who are passionate
about theatre have the possibility of attending
some of the most prestigious theatres of
Europe: the Teatro Real has a very famous
repertoire, but just as good are the two
theatres located face to face on the Plaza
de Santa Ana: the Teatro Español
and the Teatro de la Comedia. If you are
interested in Spanish operetta, the right
place to go is the Teatro Lírico
Nacional "La Zarzuela".
For the younger
crowd, the selection of clubs is very
large, but just as appealing is the
selection of bars and pubs that feature
live music.
Above all, our advice
is to "live" Madrid , during the day
as well as at night, walk through
its streets and discover its old flavours
and new rhythms! |
