Those who visit Madrid generally cannot
resist to go shopping and to look for the
perfect souvenir. The classic Souvenirs
are the castanets, the colorful fans and
the typical objects used at the "Plaza de
Toros" (bullfight Arena). All these can
be found in the small shops that crowd the
surroundings of the "Plaza Mayor" and the
"Puerta Del Sol." Here, as well as in many
other locations in the city, these articles
can also be purchased at the famous chain
of stores "El Corte Ingles." Luxury shopping
characterizes the zone of the Quarter of
Salamanca, which extends north of the Park
"Parque Del Bueno Retiro." Throughout the
Serrano Street , Madrid 's main street,
and the streets perpendicular to it are
the most beautiful and most expensive stores
of Madrid . Not everyone can afford to shop
at the fashion shops and at the galleries
located on this area.

Taking
a walk through the City Markets is a must
for all shoppers. The most famous one is
the "Rastro" located on the Lavapies Quarter
through the Embajadores Street . Madrid
's largest Flea Market attracts visitors
on Sunday and holiday mornings with an assortment
of apparel, and miscellaneous objects.

Apparel
For the young shopper we recommend two
solutions that offer a good selection
at reasonable prices. "Zara" -a store
that belongs to the famous Spanish apparel
chain, which is located on the Gran Via
(n.32) and "Ararat" on the Almirante Street
(n.10-11). If money is not an issue, include
in your itinerary the boutique of Adolfo
Dominguez, one of the most famous Spanish
designers, located at the Serrano Street
(n.96)

To find the most beautiful exponents of
this delicate souvenir, we recommend the
Casa Talavera located at the Isabel la Católica
Street , number 2. There you will find the
most complete exposition of the entire Spanish
tradition of ceramic china.
